    About the job

Join a global semiconductor company as a Power Semiconductor Process Engineer and play a key role in improving semiconductor manufacturing processes while supporting the development of next-generation power semiconductors, including GaN.

Based in Aizu, Fukushima, you will focus on semiconductor front-end process engineering, using SPC, process data, statistical analysis, and experimental methods to improve product quality, manufacturing yield, productivity, and cost competitiveness.

You will also collaborate with manufacturing, design, development, equipment, materials, and quality teams to establish new process technologies and successfully transition new semiconductor products and processes into mass production. This opportunity is ideal for an engineer looking to build deeper expertise in semiconductor process development, manufacturing engineering, and GaN power semiconductor technology.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Improve semiconductor front-end manufacturing processes, including Diffusion, Implantation, Photo, Etch, CVD, and PVD, to enhance quality, productivity, yield, and cost competitiveness.
    • Collaborate with design and development teams to establish new process flows for next-generation power semiconductors and GaN technologies.
    • Use Statistical Process Control (SPC) and process data analysis to identify manufacturing issues, investigate root causes, formulate hypotheses, and implement improvements.
    • Plan experiments for new manufacturing conditions and processes, evaluate results, analyze data, and prepare technical reports.
    • Work cross-functionally with manufacturing, design, development, equipment, materials, and quality teams to establish technologies for semiconductor mass production.
    • Support the transfer of new semiconductor processes, technologies, and products from development into mass production.

    Required Skills and Qualifications

    Experience:
    • Practical experience in semiconductor front-end processes or semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
    • Experience analyzing, evaluating, and improving semiconductor or relevant manufacturing processes.
    • Basic knowledge and practical understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and data-driven problem-solving.
    • Experience identifying technical issues, developing hypotheses, designing experiments, analyzing results, and preparing technical reports.
    Soft Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to independently identify and address technical challenges.
    • Logical and analytical thinking with the ability to use data and experimental results to drive process improvements.
    • Proactive mindset and willingness to take ownership of technical issues from identification through analysis, improvement, and reporting.
    • Strong collaboration skills for working across manufacturing, design, development, equipment, materials, and quality teams.
    • Commitment to continuous learning and developing knowledge of new semiconductor technologies, processes, and materials.
    Language Requirements:
    • Japanese: Fluent.
    • English: Fluent, with the ability to communicate effectively in an international engineering and semiconductor manufacturing environment.

    Preferred Skills & Qualifications

    • Knowledge or hands-on experience with Diffusion, Implantation, Photo, Etch, CVD, or PVD semiconductor processes.
    • Experience in mass-production process management, semiconductor process improvement, new product launches, or process development.
    • Experience transferring new semiconductor processes or products into mass production.
    • Experience working cross-functionally with design, manufacturing, equipment engineering, and quality control teams.
    • Strong interest in emerging semiconductor technologies and materials, with a proactive approach to continuous improvement and technical problem-solving.
