Your Role:
Our clients are undergoing significant growth and transformational change, to deliver on their ambition to become Ireland's Best Personal and Small Business Bank through delivering exceptional customer experiences. They recognise that technology will be a key enabler to support their ambition and deliver on their promise and are seeking to fill a number of technology leadership roles, within their Architecture & Strategy team, for those with experience across a number of technology domains, including digital technologies; micro-services based integration; European, International and electronic payments; data analytics technology, as well as enterprise architecture governance and design assurance.
As a Technology Architect Manager you will provide senior architecture and design leadership in the delivery of their transformation roadmap to evolve the channels, capabilities, technologies and processes from current state to the target state. You will work within the Group Architecture & Strategy team to align design and delivery to the bank's strategic direction and target state architecture, engaging with technical leads across all technology domains and providing ongoing support and guidance to the delivery teams leading to the achievement of the business strategy.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work across a range of technologies and platforms, encompassing the bank's core banking systems, enterprise data and integration technologies, digital channels, plus its ancillary applications and services. They continue to develop new capabilities and opportunities to leverage cloud technologies, event driven architectures, advanced data analytics and AI capabilities.
Your Team:
You will work within the central architecture team, reporting to the Head of IT Architecture & Strategy, which is tasked with development and delivery of the Bank's future Technology Strategy & Architecture, maintaining alignment across all technology domains and providing ongoing guidance, as needed, to the delivery teams leading to the achievement of the business strategy.
From time to time you will be responsible for the people management, demand management and development of enterprise architecture practice. You may also be required to stand in for the Head of IT Architecture & Strategy at various Senior Leadership fora and will be subject to all necessary confidentiality and integrity rules in terms of items for discussion
They offer flexible working arrangements from hybrid, remote working, and options to work within or between their Dublin and Cork primary locations. There may be a requirement for travel between Dublin and Cork from time to time, as needed.
Your Responsibilities:
Functional Strategy & Delivery
- Lead the development and evolution of the technology, solutions and architecture to enable the bank's services and operations, incorporating secure and scalable integration with the bank's core banking architecture.
- Enable the Bank's strategic ambition and execution of the underpinning Technology Strategy through an efficient and disciplined approach to an effective enterprise architecture capability.
- Contribute to the bank's technology roadmap through continued innovation from a technical standpoint. Ensure solutions are developed within an overall future banking architecture blueprint which accommodates regular innovation and evolution.
- Ensure solutions are designed to meet Enterprise Quality of Service (i.e. non-functional), Security and Operational Resilience requirements so that they are protected, scalable, adaptable and in synchronisation with ever changing business needs
Risk Management & Control
- Ensure that all architectural decisions are fully compliant with company policies and follow the agreed Architecture governance process.
- Development of services and solutions, which align to the Enterprise policies, standards & principles to support the on-going implementation of the bank's Technology Strategy
- Contribute to, and leverage, the IT Architecture Governance process to ensure proposed IT solutions are architected to meet IT principles and policies and enable business requirements in a cost effective manner.
Lead an inspiring Culture
- Build and drive a culture and commitment to excellence in the delivery of architecture designs and strategic blueprints.
- Keep up to date with technology trends and issues, in your domain, and provide advice and guidance to business and IT personnel on potential opportunities to support business goals.
- Develop and maintain an environment of innovation and continuous improvement, focusing on quality, cost reduction and architectural process improvement.
- Contribute to the continued development of skills and experience of the Architecture & Strategy function.
- Support workforce planning and shaping for Group Technology, generally, and Architecture & Strategy in particular.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Represent the Architecture and Strategy input and viewpoint at various stakeholder meetings, steering and external third-party partnerships
- Maintaining strong network internally and externally to ensure Group Technology strategy and operating model remains fully informed as to industry developments and Bank's emerging needs.
- Preparing high impact communications on the above for a variety of audience including Executive Committee, Bank wide and business engagement.
Requirements:
Essential
- Experience in solution design and knowledge in one, or more, of the following enterprise banking solutions:
- Core banking platforms (e.g. retail banking, lending, digital platforms, etc.)
- A knowledge of digital banking solutions, e.g. web/mobile channel integration within digital transformation programmes
- Secure, digital, and/or core payments processing technology solutions and the integration to supporting fraud, anti-money laundering, clearing, settlement and reconciliation capabilities.
- Enterprise integration solutions, including REST, OIDC/Oauth2, FIDO, MQ / File based, XML/XSD, SOAP, micro-service based integration, event based platforms, etc.
- Experience in lean and agile delivery of digital channel development within digital transformation programmes
- Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to manage internal and external relationships is essential
- Influencing and negotiation skills, plus excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A strong background in alignment of architecture design processes within traditional and agile software development lifecycles (e.g. SaFE framework)
- Relevant certification in Architectural Frameworks (e.g. TOGAF, CITA-F), or equivalent work experience, i.e. greater than 10 years' experience across multiple IT roles with a minimum of 7 years Architecture practice experience in a large organisation (preferably financial services).
Desired
- Integration of core banking platforms and ancillary banking applications, including (among others): Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence, Fraud system integration, General Ledger, Regulatory and MI reporting, Document production; Content Management, etc.
- Experience in integrating Cloud based SaaS applications with On-premises components, including authentication and authorisation functionality
- A knowledge of one or more modern architecture patterns and related technologies, such as Apache Kafka, Mulesoft, NoSQL databases, cloud architectures (Azure or AWS)
- A knowledge of enterprise delivery automation tooling and processes
- Technology Risk Management and Architecture governance
- Experience or competency in project management and delivery, would be advantageous
