Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Production Operative with proven experience in wood machining to join our production team. The successful candidate will assist in the day-to-day operations of our workshop, contributing to the manufacturing and processing of wood products. This role requires practical skills, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to workplace safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate a variety of woodworking machinery (e.g., spindle moulders, panel saws, beam saws, CNC machines, planers, etc.) safely and efficiently
- Measure, cut, and shape wood and wood-based products according to technical drawings or specifications
- Carry out general workshop tasks such as loading/unloading materials, product assembly, sanding, and finishing
- Inspect finished products for quality and ensure they meet required standards
- Assist in the maintenance and cleaning of machinery and equipment
- Follow health and safety guidelines and always use personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Work collaboratively with other team members and follow instructions from supervisors
- Maintain accurate records of production and report any issues or defects to management
Requirements:
- Previous experience operating wood machinery in a workshop or manufacturing environment
- Basic understanding of carpentry, joinery, or timber processing
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions
- Good physical condition and ability to perform manual handling tasks
- Excellent time management and reliability
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently
- Commitment to workplace health and safety standards
Desirable:
- Experience in CNC wood machining or programming
- Forklift or other relevant machinery licenses
- Knowledge of quality control procedures in manufacturing
