    Legal Counsel

    Dublin City Centre Permanent €90k - €120k

    Legal Counsel

    About the job

Our client is a leading international engineering and technical services organisation, with a long-established presence in Ireland and operations across multiple countries in Europe and the Middle East. The business delivers complex engineering and construction projects to major multinational organisations across a range of sectors.

As the organisation continues to expand internationally, it is seeking an ambitious and commercially focused Legal Counsel to join its growing legal team.

    The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor looking to make their first move in-house from private practice, or for an existing in-house lawyer seeking broader responsibility and greater international exposure.

Reporting to the Group General Counsel, you will work closely with senior leadership and stakeholders across the business, providing advice on a diverse range of legal, commercial and strategic matters.

The role offers exposure across construction, commercial contracts, corporate transactions, dispute resolution, compliance, employment and international operations, providing an excellent opportunity to develop into a well-rounded commercial in-house lawyer.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide day-to-day construction, corporate and commercial legal advice across the organisation.
    • Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial and corporate agreements.
    • Support international expansion and new-country establishment projects.
    • Provide legal support on M&A transactions and corporate restructurings.
    • Advise on data protection, compliance and corporate governance matters.
    • Provide support on employment law and employee relations issues.
    • Advise on regulatory and operational legal matters.
    • Support and manage commercial, contractual and construction-related disputes, including litigation, arbitration, mediation and settlement negotiations.
    • Review, draft and negotiate construction documentation, including:
      • Main contracts
      • Sub-contracts
      • Bonds
      • Parent company guarantees
      • Novation agreements
      • NDAs and ancillary project documentation
    • Manage and coordinate external legal advisers across multiple jurisdictions.
    • Assist with the development and implementation of legal processes, contract templates, playbooks and policies.
    • Contribute to the development of governance frameworks and company policies.
    • Deliver legal training and practical guidance to business units, project teams and management.
    • Provide legal support on business integration projects, acquisitions and other strategic initiatives.

    Candidate Profile

    • Qualified Irish Solicitor.
    • Ideally 3-6 years' PQE, although candidates with less experience and strong relevant experience will also be considered.
    • Experience gained within a mid-sized or large law firm and/or relevant in-house environment.
    • Experience in construction law and/or commercial law, either contentious or non-contentious.
    • Strong commercial contracts experience.
    • Experience managing litigation, disputes and/or alternative dispute resolution processes.
    • Exposure to international businesses or cross-border transactions would be advantageous.
    • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to provide practical, business-focused legal advice.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
    • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.

    Why Apply?

This is a particularly strong opportunity for a solicitor who wants to move beyond a traditional private practice role and gain broad, hands-on commercial experience within a multinational organisation in Dublin City Centre on a hybrid working arrangement.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work directly with senior stakeholders, gain international exposure and develop expertise across multiple areas of law, with significant scope for career development and progression within the legal function.
