Investment Analyst
A Dublin-based boutique firm is expanding its team and seeking an Investment Analyst to help manage its portfolio of direct investments across various asset classes.
Asset Classes Include:
- Direct equity investments (listed securities)
- Direct fixed income investments (listed securities)
- Commercial real estate
- Operating assets (hospitality and leisure industries)
- Funds (private equity, hedge funds, long-only funds, etc.)
- Direct private equity investments
This is a unique opportunity to step into a principal or buy-side investment role, joining a small, collaborative, and fast-growing team with a flat organizational structure.
Main Responsibilities:
- Assist Senior Research Analysts in their daily tasks
- Support the CEO/CIO in overseeing the family office's investments and operations
- Conduct detailed research on potential direct equity investments
- Analyze and assess the risk/reward profile of investment opportunities
- Collect and process key financial and market data
- Create valuations based on different scenarios (bear, base, and bull cases)
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders (e.g., CEOs, CFOs, analysts, brokers)
- Develop financial models in Excel (though not a core task, proficiency is required)
- Monitor and review ongoing information related to investments
- Research and address new or existing investment issues as they arise
- Depending on experience, additional duties may include:
- Trading equities directly or through brokers
- Utilizing Bloomberg terminals for market analysis
- Offering informed opinions on existing and potential investments
- Assisting with legal due diligence for specific investments (e.g., private equity co-investments)
- Work with external accountants for year-end reporting and tax compliance
- Handle administrative tasks such as updating portfolio management spreadsheets and reporting to the Family Office Principal
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Strong passion for financial markets and investments
- Background in one or more of the following areas:
- Equity Research
- Corporate Finance
- Equity Sales & Trading
- Private Wealth Management
- Family Office Investing
- ACA/CFA/CIMA qualifications are advantageous but not required
- Strong technical skills in financial analysis and valuation
- Self-driven, motivated, and capable of working independently with a strong work ethic
