Head of Internal Communications

Overview:

A leading utility provider is seeking a Head of Internal Communications to drive strategic internal engagement and align messaging across a diverse, multi-site workforce. This senior role reports to the Director of Communications and is focused on enhancing employee advocacy, leadership visibility, and reputation management through best-in-class internal communication practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead company-wide internal communication strategy aligned with corporate vision and values.
• Coach senior leaders on effective internal messaging and communication capability.
• Oversee leadership communications and storytelling, ensuring message consistency and clarity.
• Develop and manage digital and hybrid communication channels, with a focus on audience insight, measurement, and employee feedback.
• Support organisational transformation, cultural change, and employee engagement through strategic campaigns.
• Act as a key player in crisis communication and change management efforts.
• Build and lead a high-performing internal communications team.

Requirements:

• 10+ years' experience in internal communications or stakeholder management, ideally within utilities, infrastructure, or similarly regulated industries.
• Proven success leading strategic communications in large, complex organisations.
• Strong leadership and team development skills.
• Expertise in digital channel development, engagement metrics, and change communications.
• Confident influencing C-suite stakeholders and leading cross-functional collaboration.

Desirable:

Experience in public affairs, brand, media relations, or transformation programmes is an advantage.
