Overview
We're National Broadband Ireland and we're delivering the largest telecommunications project that Ireland has ever seen. We're designing, building and operating Ireland's new, high-speed wholesale broadband network under the National Broadband Plan. Our aim is to radically transform the country's broadband landscape through the delivery of quality, affordable high-speed broadband to all parts of Ireland where such services are not available commercially.
The NBI™ network using a combination of State subsidy and commercial investment will deliver high-speed broadband to over 1.1 million people and over 569,000 premises in Ireland. No matter how remote or rural, no town, village or community will be left behind. NBI will be responsible for the management of the new national broadband network for the next 25 years.

Key Responsibilities:
- Create maps to support the rollout of the network including maps for Local Authority Applications
- Update and maintain maps of as built recording from NBI's suppliers
- Standardise datasets from third party operators (file types, coordinate conversion)
- Validate information from third party providers
- Prepare work packs and reports to access third party network
- Create and maintain dashboards for build progress reporting.
- Standardise and automate transfer of GIS data
- Coordinate and control GIS licencing and user access
- Liaising with external resource/service providers and datasets, e.g. Ordnance Survey, GeoDirectory.
- Other duties as required from time to time
- Defining, promoting and enforcing strong governance including applications, security and company standards
Knowledge & Experience:
- A qualification in GIS and/or at least 2 years' experience in a similar role
- Good working knowledge required of these systems; ArcGIS, QGIS
- Knowledge of spatial datasets (e.g. OSI, GeoDirectory, Aerial Photography, Imagery) an advantage
- Strong understanding of IT concepts. Knowledge of IT Web, Mobile and DB Infrastructure related to GIS systems.
- Understanding of GIS principles and concepts
- Proven ability to create and develop good working relationships to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals, coupled with the ability to gain commitment from others
- Have excellent analytical skills and be able to identify and analyse problems and potential improvements, and propose and implement solutions
- Proactively identifying new areas of learning and using such knowledge and skill on the job
- Ability to set own high standards of performance and delivering desired results
- Excellent ambassador for NBI, promoting the organisation and role modelling NBI's values.
