Your Role:
As the Compliance Manager - Prudential Compliance you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of an effective Regulatory Compliance and Conduct Risk function. Your role will be responsible for supporting management to ensure the Bank adheres to regulatory requirements and internal policies related to both financial and non-financial prudential requirements. You will provide oversight and challenge in respect of regulations that span across Financial and Non-Financial risks such as Credit, Capital and Liquidity, Remuneration and Governance. You will have significant interactions with key business stakeholders (e.g. Finance and Credit) and Risk teams (e.g. Financial Risk and the Enterprise Risk Management function).
The successful candidate will be an integral part of the Prudential Compliance Oversight team and will be working closely with senior and specialist colleagues in this exciting and challenging position.
Your Team:
You will work within the Regulatory Affairs and Prudential Compliance Oversight team which is a key part of the Regulatory Compliance and Conduct Risk function. The Compliance function is an independent function within Group Risk (the Second Line of Defence) and is responsible for the ongoing assessment and monitoring of regulatory compliance risk across the Bank. In this position you will work closely with the Group Risk Leadership team and Senior Management within the Compliance function.
Your Responsibilities:
Oversight
- Provide appropriate and meaningful oversight and challenge, to the 1st and 2nd line of defence in managing prudential compliance obligations in accordance with the Bank's Regulatory Compliance Framework and related policies and procedures
- Work with the specialist risk teams to support them in providing advice and guidance to the business areas
- Review the 2nd line oversight testing and monitoring plans to ensure they meet compliance requirements and regulator expectations
- Liaise with the centralised monitoring team on the output from monitoring activities in relation to any potential breaches of regulations and guidelines
- Review and challenge of 1st and 2nd line frameworks and policies to ensure that they meet regulatory requirements and expectations
- Analyse regulatory developments and key current issues facing the business
- Work with Compliance Upstream Manager and provide guidance on Prudential Regulatory Requirements
- Support the EBA Q&A process
- Review obligation register to ensure that the Prudential risks and controls are mapped correctly
- Work with the other Compliance specialist across all compliance areas to ensure all aspects of regulations are considered when new initiatives are being considered
Risk Management & Control
- Support the monthly Regulatory Compliance and Conduct Risk Appetite Statement (RAS) process and manage key stakeholder interactions and engagements.
- Actively promote risk management, identifying where risks exist and proactively seek to implement mitigating actions and controls across all functions of the Bank
- Deliver high quality reports and management information on compliance with regulatory obligations
Stakeholder Engagement
- Engage, challenge and promote best in class risk management practices and standards
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with 1st and 2nd line of defence functions.
- Support the Bank in maintaining a strong professional relationship with our regulator
Lead an inspiring Culture
- Support and embed a strong risk culture at all times throughout the organisation.
- As a manager, you will inspire and motivate the wider Compliance team to help deliver the Bank's purpose and values.
- Support for Line Manager as required, embracing a High Performance Culture and wider team development
Requirements:
Essential
- Relevant experience in managing compliance with Prudential regulation
- Relevant experience in Financial Services/consulting at a Manager level
- Diploma/Degree in a business, risk, compliance or finance related field
- Capability to work on own initiative to adhere to all timelines in a demanding environment, while also recognising when to escalate to management
- Ability to produce written and verbal outputs with clarity and impact
- Ability to work under pressure and to strict timelines while managing conflicting priorities
- Strong communication skills with a proven ability to articulate issues in discussions/presentations with senior stakeholders
- Ability to deal with ambiguity, but keep clear sight of the agreed objectives
- Highly organised and demonstrates an ability to work both collectively and independently in a multi-task and multi-focus environment
- Demonstrated ability to influence and lead others, e.g. colleagues and internal partners

- Proficient in PowerPoint, while having an excellent working knowledge of Excel and Word
