A leading pharmaceutical manufacturer based in Grangecastle, Ireland is seeking an experienced Automation Project Manager to deliver multiple automation and digital integration initiatives across its API, OSD and biologics operations. The role sits within the site's Automation Department and is responsible for managing automation projects, control system upgrades and digital integration activities in a GMP-regulated environment.
Manage automation and digital projects across the site, ensuring delivery to scope, budget, schedule and GMP quality requirements.
Lead planning and execution of key initiatives, including:
Installation of an offline DCS for training and validation.
Upgrades of Yokogawa DCS software and associated OT network infrastructure.
Replacement of obsolete and legacy control systems.
Act as primary interface with automation, IT/OT and control system vendors; manage scope, deliverables, change control and performance.
Drive integration of plant automation with manufacturing IT/OT systems to support data integrity, system monitoring and asset performance management.
Develop and manage URS, feasibility studies, design documents, RFPs and bid evaluations.
Lead project risk assessments, capital funding submissions and cross-functional team alignment.
Oversee detailed design, FAT/SAT, commissioning and qualification for automation and control systems.
Ensure compliant implementation aligned with data integrity standards, 21 CFR Part 11, Annex 11 and GMP expectations.
Coordinate training, knowledge transfer and handover to Automation, Operations, IT/OT and Maintenance teams.
Report project status, risks and issues to site management.
Engineering or technical degree (Automation, Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, Control Systems, Computer/Software Engineering or equivalent).
5+ years' experience in automation or project management within a pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical environment.
Strong understanding of DCS/PCS/SCADA platforms (Yokogawa desirable), OT network infrastructure, control system architecture, cybersecurity and data integration.
Experience with legacy system upgrades, lifecycle management and obsolescence planning.
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and deliver projects within a GMP framework.
Excellent communication, problem-solving and vendor management skills.
