This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant to take ownership of a varied client portfolio, lead on compliance and advisory work, and play a key role in mentoring junior team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and deliver audit and non-audit assignments from planning through to completion
- Prepare year-end financial statements for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies under relevant local GAAP (FRS 102 / FRS 105)
- Prepare and submit key tax returns including Corporation Tax, Income Tax, VAT, PAYE, and other statutory filings
- Act as a key point of contact with tax authorities and regulatory bodies on behalf of clients
- Oversee company secretarial compliance including statutory filings and annual returns
- Manage a portfolio of SME and owner-managed business clients
- Review bookkeeping and VAT submissions prepared by junior team members
- Support, mentor, and develop junior staff and trainees
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting, tax, and regulatory standards
Candidate Profile
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent)
- 3-5 years' experience within a professional practice environment ideally with previous domestic experience
- Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards (FRS 102 / FRS 105) and tax compliance
- Experience working with SME and owner-managed business clients
- Confident using accounting and tax software systems
- Strong client relationship management and communication skills
- Able to manage workload independently and supervise junior team members
