Warehouse Operative

Position Summary

The Warehouse Operative is responsible for the efficient, accurate, and timely movement, storage, and dispatch of goods within the warehouse. This role requires strong attention to detail, strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and effective management of pick lists and inventory to support smooth warehouse operations.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Receiving & Storage

• Receive incoming goods by unloading deliveries and checking items against purchase orders.

• Inspect deliveries for accuracy and damage, reporting any discrepancies.

• Store goods in designated locations, ensuring optimal use of warehouse space and easy accessibility.

Picking, Packing & Dispatch

• Manage and prioritise pick lists to ensure timely and accurate order fulfilment.

• Accurately pick and pack customer orders according to specifications.

• Ensure orders are securely packed, correctly labelled, and prepared for dispatch.

• Complete and include all required dispatch documentation, such as packing slips and shipping labels.

Inventory Control

• Assist with regular stock takes and cycle counts.

• Conduct inventory checks and report any discrepancies promptly.

• Ensure stock levels and movements are accurately recorded in line with company procedures.

SOPs, Compliance & Safety

• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), GMP guidelines, and warehouse policies at all times.

• Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to health and safety regulations.

• Ensure equipment and work areas are clean, organised, and free from hazards.

Equipment Operation

• Safely operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet trucks, and other machinery (training provided).

Deliveries & Transport

• Perform scheduled deliveries between company warehouses using the company delivery vehicle.

• Ensure timely and accurate transfer of inventory while complying with all safety and operational procedures.

Teamwork & General Duties

• Work collaboratively with warehouse team members to meet productivity targets and deadlines.

• Assist with general warehouse maintenance, including cleaning duties and waste disposal.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills

• Attention to Detail: Strong ability to accurately follow instructions and pick lists.

• Physical Stamina: Capable of lifting and moving heavy items over extended periods.

• Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a team to achieve operational goals.

• Health & Safety Awareness: Basic understanding of warehouse safety practices and the ability to apply them.

• Communication Skills: Clear verbal and written communication skills to follow SOPs and coordinate with colleagues.

• Problem-Solving: Ability to identify issues in warehouse operations and take appropriate corrective action.

• Driver's License: Valid B Class driver's licence required.
