Warehouse Operative

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and reliable Warehouse Operative to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our warehouse by efficiently handling goods, maintaining accurate stock records, and ensuring a safe and clean working environment. A valid forklift license is required as the role involves the operation of forklifts for the loading, unloading, and moving of goods.

Key Responsibilities:

• Goods Handling:

  • Load and unload goods from delivery vehicles using appropriate handling methods, including the use of forklifts.
  • Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or designated storage areas according to company standards.
  • Prepare and complete orders for delivery or pickup according to schedule (e.g., picking, packing, wrapping, and labeling).
  • Ensure the accurate processing of incoming and outgoing shipments, including recording of inventory.

• Forklift Operation:

  • Safely operate forklifts to transport goods throughout the warehouse.
  • Perform daily safety checks and maintenance on forklifts and other equipment.
  • Ensure the safe stacking and storage of goods in compliance with health and safety regulations.

• Inventory Management:

  • Conduct regular stock checks to ensure accurate inventory records.
  • Assist in cycle counting and annual inventory audits.
  • Notify the Warehouse Manager of low stock levels and discrepancies in inventory.

• Health and Safety:

  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Ensure the warehouse is kept clean, organized, and free of hazards.
  • Report any health and safety concerns or equipment malfunctions to the Warehouse Manager.

• General Warehouse Duties:

  • Assist with the loading and unloading of goods onto and off delivery vehicles manually when required.
  • Collaborate with team members and other departments to optimize workflow.
  • Participate in general housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and orderly workspace.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Essential:

  • Valid forklift license (Counterbalance and/or Reach Truck).
  • Previous experience working in a warehouse environment.
  • Basic understanding of warehouse safety procedures and regulations.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail.
