My client a leading logistics solutions provider is urgently looking to fill a position as Transport Coordinator within their road freight division.
As Transport Coordinator you will be responsible for all transport operations and will be expected to liaise with cross functional departments to offer a best in class service to business customers.
This position will be a 8-12 month Fixed Term Contract and due to this I am seeking to speak to candidates who are immediately available or have a 1 week notice period.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assign approved transportation providers according to the carrier matrix, mode, service level, and cost-efficiency criteria to meet customer expectations.
- Collaborate proactively with operations teams to plan shipments, ensuring alignment with customer-specific requirements, including mode, service level, mileage, and equipment type.
- Coordinate with customers to confirm scheduled and actual pick-up times.
- Consolidate shipments to optimize efficiency and achieve cost savings.
- Partner with providers to maintain a high standard of service as needed.
- Share cost-effective transportation options with stakeholders.
- Work closely with warehouse teams to prioritize and schedule shipments effectively.
- Track, monitor, and analyze carrier performance to ensure adherence to service standards.
- Strive to meet or exceed goals for on-time pick-ups and deliveries.
- Deliver exceptional service levels to clients.
- Maintain a proactive approach with service providers.
- Transport planning, customs, and specialized handling experience will provide valuable growth opportunities in this role.
Key Requirements:
- Confident, good communication skills and telephone manner
- 1-2 years experience in transportation or logistics with ability to handle problem resolution in timely manner
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to communicate at all levels
- PC literate
- Customer service oriented
- Ability to work to targets and under pressure
