We are exclusively recruiting on behalf of our client; a dynamic Irish business headquartered in Cork. They are seeking an available immediately, skilled Bookkeeper to manage their core financial operations on an initial 6-month temporary basis. This role is a critical support function, offering an excellent opportunity to partner closely with the Managing Director, ensuring the business maintains robust financial health and statutory compliance.
As the Temporary Bookkeeper, you will be crucial in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records. Your key responsibilities will ensure smooth daily operations and provide essential financial data for strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all transactions are recorded correctly and ledgers are up to date.
- Process weekly/monthly payroll efficiently, including timely submissions for PAYE and PRSI
- Handle supplier invoices, payment runs, customer invoicing, and proactive follow-up on overdue accounts.
- Perform comprehensive monthly reconciliations of bank, supplier, and customer accounts.
- Assist in preparing monthly management accounts and maintaining all documentation required for external audits.
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant taxation, regulatory, and statutory requirements.
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns and other required Revenue filings by statutory deadlines.
- Managing petty cash and reconciling company credit card statements.
- Liaising with external accountants and auditors as needed.
- Developing and maintaining robust financial controls to enhance efficiency and safeguard confidentiality.
- Assisting with stock control reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy across departments (in a production or retail setting).
Key Requirements
- Minimum 3 years accounts experience with 1-year minimum working within an Irish Accounts Role
- Experience and working knowledge of accounting software Xero and Payroll software Brightpay and distinct advantage
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- A proactive self-starter with proven, hands-on experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar finance role, ideally within a busy production or retail environment.
- Advanced IT and MS Office skills, particularly Excel.
