Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Senior Manager, the successful candidate will:
- Apply synthetic chemistry expertise to design, develop, and optimise commercial API processes for scale-up and transfer to manufacturing sites.
- Contribute to the development of safe, efficient, and robust processes that meet contemporary quality and regulatory standards.
- Bring forward innovative chemistry and process development ideas to support global projects.
- Apply strong problem-solving skills to deepen process understanding and overcome technical challenges.
- Investigate and evaluate emerging technologies and approaches to strengthen process development capabilities.
- Deliver high-quality reports, documentation, and electronic lab notebook (eLN) records within agreed timelines.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the chemistry team.
- Ensure safe and efficient operation of laboratory and pilot facilities.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have:
- A PhD in synthetic chemistry (or equivalent).
- Extensive practical expertise in synthetic chemistry and reaction mechanisms, with proven problem-solving ability.
- Knowledge of regulatory and quality guidelines for impurity control, including genotoxic impurities (advantageous).
- Understanding of process development principles, scale-up, process validation, and technology transfer.
- Strong hands-on laboratory skills across diverse chemical transformations.
- Experience in impurity isolation and identification to support process troubleshooting.
- The ability to plan, manage, and execute work independently.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively in a team-based environment.
- A proactive, innovative mindset and the ability to turn ideas into tangible outcomes.
