Our client is looking to recruit a Principal Software Engineer, who will lead the way in architectural evolution and technical excellence. As Principal Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the team direction, fostering innovation, and ensuring the delivery of top-notch, scalable software solutions.
The Role
- Architectural Evolution: Drive the transition towards a more distributed, cloud-native architecture.
- Code Quality: Deliver high-quality, performance-driven code with robust test coverage.
- Technical Leadership: Initiate discussions on design decisions, conduct code reviews, and mentor junior developers.
- Innovation: Research and pitch innovative ideas to enhance product offerings.
- Risk Management: Identify and address risks and pitfalls in the architecture and codebase.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and advocate for their adoption when beneficial.
- Team Collaboration: Foster a culture of collaboration, empathy, and continuous learning within the team.
Qualifications and Experience:
- B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent lifetime experience.
- 10+ years commercial experience in Software Development.
- Expertise in Java Spring Hibernate technologies and exposure to tools such as Kibana, Docker, Logtash and Python.
- Proficient in Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum.
- Hands-on experience with DevOps practices and tools like IntelliJ, Maven, and Grails.
- Prior experience managing critical production systems in a Linux/Unix environment.
- Familiarity with AWS and cloud-based architecture design.
- Strong knowledge of application security principles and tools such as OAuth, SAML, and LDAP providers.
- Experience with relational databases and search technologies like Solr, Elasticsearch, or OpenSearch.
- Familiarity with JavaScript frameworks and web development technologies, experience in Node.JS and/or Vue.JS would be an advantage.
- Excellent written communication skills in JIRA, Slack, Google Apps, and ability to articulate architectural concepts effectively.
- Willingness to collaborate, learn, and make informed trade-off decisions for the team's success.
