We are currently recruiting for a Part-Time Medical Secretary to join a busy and professional healthcare organisation.
This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organised, proactive and detail-focused individual with strong communication skills and a professional, empathetic approach. You will provide administrative and secretarial support to clinicians and the wider healthcare team, helping to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the department.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and secretarial support to clinicians and the wider medical team
- Prepare, format and proofread medical letters, reports and correspondence
- Manage emails, post and telephone enquiries professionally and confidentially
- Arrange patient appointments, clinics, meetings and follow-ups
- Maintain accurate patient records and process referrals, results and clinical documentation
- Liaise with patients, GPs, consultants, hospitals and other healthcare professionals
- Manage clinician diaries and clinic schedules
- Assist with patient registration, billing and general administration where required
- Ensure all documentation and administrative processes are completed accurately and within required timescales
- Maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive patient information
- Provide general administrative support and assist with ad hoc duties as required
About You
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Medical Secretary, Medical Administrator or in a similar role
- Experience working within a healthcare or professional services environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- A professional, friendly and empathetic telephone manner
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
- Experience with clinical or electronic patient record systems is desirable
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A high level of discretion and confidentiality
- A proactive, reliable and flexible approach
