Key Responsibilities
As a pivotal member of the finance team, you will manage a broad spectrum of financial activities, acting as a crucial link between finance and the wider business operations.
- Treasury & Funding: Manage and coordinate relationships with external financial institutions concerning the negotiation, set-up, drawdown, and settlement of inventory-based funding agreements.
- Business Partnership: Serve as a dedicated finance business partner, offering essential financial support and expert guidance to specific operational teams.
- Core Accounting & Reporting:
- Oversee the end-to-end preparation of monthly management accounts up to Trial Balance, including timely and accurate month-end reconciliations.
- Produce insightful monthly analysis and commentary, specifically focusing on variance reporting against budgetary targets.
- Prepare statutory financial statements (ETB and FS) for the annual audit process and manage core queries and requests from external auditors.
- Financial Control & Compliance:
- Proactively manage and report on the company's cash flow position.
- Complete and submit key statutory returns, including VAT and PAYE.
- Document, review, and maintain all finance-related controls and procedures, contributing to a culture of continuous process improvement and best practice.
- Regularly review and maintain the accuracy of the fixed asset register and oversee the efficient management of debtor and creditor ledgers.
- Strategic Support: Assist the leasing division with preparing critical business planning figures for both annual business plan and rolling forecasting cycles.
- Project Work: Lead and contribute to ad hoc projects, providing specialised financial analysis as required by senior management.
Essential Requirements
- Qualification: Fully Qualified Accountant (e.g., ACCA, ACA, CIMA, CPA).
- Experience: A minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience in a broad General Accounting/Financial Accountant role.
- Technical Skills: Expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel is mandatory, alongside a good working knowledge of Word and PowerPoint.
