EHS Manager | Chemical Manufacturing | Cork
An established chemical manufacturing business in Cork is seeking an experienced EHS Manager to lead all aspects of Health, Safety and Environmental performance across the site.
This is a senior role with responsibility for regulatory compliance, management systems, process safety, environmental performance, and driving a positive safety culture throughout the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and maintain the site's Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems, ensuring compliance with Irish legislation and industry regulations.
- Manage ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification programmes and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with COMAH/Seveso requirements, chemical regulations, and environmental permitting obligations.
- Act as the primary contact for regulatory bodies, auditors, insurers, and external stakeholders.
- Lead environmental, occupational, process and chemical risk assessments and manage associated actions.
- Develop and maintain emergency response and crisis management plans.
- Drive incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and performance improvement programmes.
- Deliver EHS training and support competency development across the business.
- Manage contractor safety, permit-to-work systems, and site inspections.
- Monitor, analyse and report EHS KPIs to senior management.
- Promote a strong safety culture through engagement, communication, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Candidate Profile
- Degree or professional qualification in Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience in an EHS leadership role within chemical, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, energy, or other high-hazard industries.
- Strong knowledge of Irish EHS legislation, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Experience with COMAH/Seveso, process safety, chemical risk management, or major hazard environments is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to engage stakeholders, influence behaviours, and drive a positive safety culture.
- Strong auditing, investigation, risk assessment, and contractor management experience.
