Applications Engineer

Overview:

A leading medical device manufacturer in Cork is seeking an Applications Engineer to support and enhance automation systems across a range of manufacturing equipment. This contract role focuses on diagnostics, code review, and supporting the development of automation capabilities within the team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and resolve issues on floor equipment including CNC, coating, and packaging machines
• Conduct code reviews on legacy PLC systems and improve documentation for future diagnostics
• Support automation teams by training engineers on code troubleshooting techniques
• Collaborate on the ongoing development and expansion of automation systems
• Work with a variety of PLC platforms including Allen-Bradley, Siemens, ABB, Fanuc, and Mitsubishi

Requirements:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (Level 8 or equivalent)
• 4+ years' experience in a manufacturing environment with a strong focus on automation
• Proficiency in ladder logic and experience with multiple PLC platforms
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
