Job Description
Diverse team in globally-minded company looking for experienced UX Designer in perm role
Roles/Responsibilities
- Conduct user research and data analysis to understand and clarify user needs, generating deep insights and concepts for the improvement of the Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) experience in Japan.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with departments such as Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Engineering, Product, PMO, Data, and Risk to proactively gather information and frame business cases for enhancing customer experiences across native apps, web services, and other touchpoints.
- Lead design initiatives to improve the native app, web app, website, and overall user experience, from ideation to high-fidelity design, employing human-centered design methods.
- Communicate research findings, conceptual ideas, and detailed designs effectively through various means, including sketching, storyboards, sitemaps, wireframes, flowcharts, and prototypes, to guide the team in understanding what to build and why.
- Own the end-to-end user experience, ensuring consistency by maintaining design systems and guidelines, and evaluating the quality of design work to meet business requirements and deliver a seamless customer experience.
- Demonstrate strong creative and visual design skills, contribute to expanding and maintaining the design system, and leverage project management skills to lead feature teams in the continuous improvement of products.
Required skills
- A minimum of 5 years of Interaction Design and/or Service Design experience, demonstrating expertise in diverse users, business challenges, and device contexts.
- Showcase a track record of 3+ years in designing digital products tailored for Japanese consumers, emphasizing local language nuances.
- Demonstrate a 3+ year history of driving and applying user-centered design processes, including crafting experience maps, user journeys, service blueprints, interaction models, flows, and wireframes.
- 3+ years in rapid prototyping methods, encompassing paper sketching to digital prototypes, and 2+ years of experience managing design systems for multiple device products.
- Present a comprehensive design portfolio showcasing the UX design process for mobile apps on iOS, Android, and the web, with the ability to document, present, and manage stakeholder meetings in English and Japanese.
- Preferably, possess a strong creative sense, visual design skills, and project management experience within a product-driven organization, along with familiarity with remote design tools such as Figma and collaboration platforms like FigJam and Miro.
- Please note that only those who are eligible to work in Japan at the time of application can be considered. The client cannot sponsor a visa.

- Remote Collaboration Skills: Nice-to-have skills include experience in conducting design exercises entirely remotely, utilizing tools like FigJam and Miro, demonstrating adaptability to virtual work environments, and effective collaboration practices in distributed teams.
