Risk Manager | Reinsurance

There is a brand new Risk Manager role on offer with a highly reputable reinsurance company based in Dublin. The Risk Manager role is offered on a full-time permanent basis, reporting directly into the Chief Risk Officer.

The Risk Manager will work as part of a small, close knit team with a wider scope across Europe. This Global Reinsurance company is highly regarded in the market, bringing together global expertise and providing a huge amount of opportunity long term.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Understand, identify, measure and control a broad range of risk management topics within a team of experts
  • Work closely with Group Risk Functions
  • Regular liaison with the Central Bank of Ireland (CBI) regarding the risk environment
  • Embed and execute the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Framework within the company
  • Consistently promote a strong risk culture across the organisation
  • Maintain up to date information on any emerging risks within the market and ensure timely proposals to mitigate
  • Ensure adherence and transparency with application of all risk methodologies, ensuring regular open communication with Group Risk
  • Screen the reinsurance markets for any new or emerging ERM topics
  • Provide support within the risk function with reporting requirements for both the CBI and Group requirements
  • Foster relationships between the risk and business lines
  • Participation and preparation of topics for discussion at Risk Committee and/or Board of Directors
  • Participation in business review audits
  • Maintenance of risk governance concepts and documents

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 5 years work experience, preferably in audit or risk environment (operational risk or enterprise risk)
  • Must have a background in risk management - particularly Solvency II
  • Strong knowledge and background in reinsurance or insurance industry
  • Degree in Business Administration/Economies or similar qualification
  • Self-starter with the ability to show initiative and work without constant supervision
  • Essential - strong analytical skills, ability to develop and present concepts
  • Willingness to travel occasionally
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Solid understanding of balance sheets (MVBS) of insurance companies within Solvency II framework
