Job Description

The Project Manager is responsible for planning, managing and delivering projects, from initiation to close, which meet agreed business and technical objectives within time, cost and quality standards

Key Accountabilities

  • Governance Monitoring and Control
  • Maintain an appropriate project governance structure and effective communication processes
  • Follow standard project management framework, setting out the reporting, control and escalation mechanisms and incorporating the necessary internal approval mechanisms as required
  • Manage project issues, risks, dependencies and change control within agreed processes, and update Business Case accordingly, to ensure delivery of project results within the agreed scope
  • Ensure that the investment approval and review process is followed and be responsive to recommendations of any health check /project reviews
  • Manage the project budget on behalf of the Executive Sponsor, monitoring and reporting the costs against the delivered and realised benefits
  • Provide the necessary reports on project status to Delivery Support Project Initiation
  • Confirm the scope of a proposed project, and clearly define the objectives of the project
  • Collate all information and produce and maintain the Project Documentation and Project Plans and agree these with associated Steering Committee
  • Ensure robust standards are in place and in line with company standards
  • Project Execution and Delivery
  • Monitor the overall project progress, resolving issues, initiating corrective action and referring major issues upwards to the Programme Manager / Change Delivery Manager as appropriate
  • Co-ordinate and foster teamwork and manage the knowledge and skills transfer within the project
  • Manage the operational activities of partners
  • Ensure robust estimates are in place and in line with industry standards
  • Manage project deliverables and ensure that all project deliverables are to the appropriate levels of quality, on time and within budget, in accordance with the project plan and coherent with the overall project objectives and related business strategy
  • Be responsible for the Quality Assurance and the overall integrity of the project
  • Where appropriate, maintain oversight and approval on the user acceptance testing deliverables - approach, scope, sign-off criteria etc. and ensure completion of Operational Acceptance Testing activities

Essential Qualifications

  • Proven track record in delivering complex, wide ranging projects in a timely manner
  • Strong knowledge of Financial Services
  • In-depth knowledge of project processes, software development cycle, Bank technical architecture, development, compliance, regulatory and implementation standards
  • Proven ability to engage with, and leverage, partners to deliver the project
  • Strong familiarity with quality management concepts and their application Skills
  • Project Management
  • Business Acumen
  • Stakeholder/Relationship Management
  • IT process and organisation
  • Testing Process and Methodologies

Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Project Management qualification (PMP, PRINCE II)
  • Project Management certifications (Agile, Scrum master etc)
