Job Description

Our client a leader in providing asset and liability management services to the Irish Government, is looking to recruit a Head of Risk for their Dublin Office.

Our client a leader in providing asset and liability management services to the Irish Government, is looking to recruit a Head of Risk for their Dublin Office.

The primary responsibility of the Head of Risk is to lead the Risk Function in providing independent oversight and subject matter expertise on risk management strategy. Oversight will be provided across all functions and risk types (including both financial and non-financial risks) to the business.

They will also be responsible for providing support to the business to ensure risks to its business goals and objectives can be effectively managed.

Duties:

  • Develop the risk strategy, recommend, implement and maintain their Risk Management Policy and Framework and Risk Appetite Framework.
  • Lead effective 2nd line independent oversight and challenge to decisions that affect the organisation's exposure to risk.
  • Provide comprehensive and understandable information on risks, including strategic and emerging risks, sufficient to enable the businesss and risk committees to understand the Risk function's assessment of the overall risk profile of the companies activities through the use of key risk indicators, limits and 2nd line risk reporting.
  • Assess risk materiality and the impact on the evolving risk appetite on a timely basis, ensuring linkage to effective decision making.
  • Lead and manage all relevant internal risk committees or delegate where appropriate.
  • Develop, lead and manage a professional team which interacts effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on risk management activities.
  • Present timely monitoring, reporting and recommendations to the Audit and Risk Committee and relevant internal committees.

Experience:

  • Relevent Degree required.
  • Ability to lead and develop an existing team with diverse backgrounds and skillsets.
  • Ability to command credibility and build trust at all levels both internally and externally.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to understand and assimilate complex financial issues
  • Principled independent thinker with the ability to influence and negotiate at senior levels
