We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to take ownership of the full finance function within a growing Waterford based business. This is a hands-on senior finance role offering significant autonomy and the opportunity to shape and develop finance processes, systems and controls as the business continues to grow.
The successful candidate will provide accurate financial reporting, commercial insight and strategic support to the senior leadership team, while managing the day-to-day finance operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take full ownership of the finance function, overseeing all day-to-day financial operations including AP, AR, banking, reconciliations and the general ledger.
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Prepare monthly management accounts, statutory returns and financial reporting for senior management.
- Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow planning processes.
- Monitor performance against budget and forecast, providing clear variance analysis and commercial recommendations.
- Provide financial insight and support strategic and operational decision-making across the business.
- Partner with senior leadership and operational teams, acting as a trusted finance business partner and confidently challenging where appropriate.
- Develop and maintain project costing and profitability models, analysing margins, costs, risks and commercial opportunities.
- Maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, liaising with auditors, Revenue, banks and external accountants as required.
- Identify and implement improvements to finance processes, systems, controls and automation to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Support the implementation of future ERP systems and develop scalable finance processes to support continued growth.
- Present financial information clearly to senior stakeholders, including non-finance colleagues, to support informed decision-making.
Key Requirements:
- Qualified Accountant - ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
- Previous experience managing the full finance function in a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or similar senior finance position.
- Experience working within a growing business, ideally where you have helped develop and implement finance processes and controls.
- Strong experience preparing budgets, forecasts and cash flow projections.
- Excellent commercial acumen with the ability to translate financial information into meaningful business insight.
- Experience in project costing and financial analysis.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Proven ability to influence decision-making through financial insight.
- Comfortable challenging and influencing key stakeholders and non-finance colleagues.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
