Ensure full compliance with all Irish and EU environmental laws, EPA licence conditions, and local authority requirements.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of environmental legislation and communicate relevant updates to site management.
Liaise with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), local authorities, and other regulatory bodies as required.
Prepare and submit required environmental reports (e.g. AER - Annual Environmental Report, PRTR, waste returns).
Develop, implement, and maintain the site's Environmental Management System (EMS) in accordance with ISO 14001.
Conduct internal audits and support external certification audits.
Identify and manage environmental risks and opportunities to support sustainability targets.
Monitor and report on resource usage including energy, water, and raw materials.
Develop and implement waste minimisation, recycling, and circular economy initiatives.
Lead carbon reduction and sustainability projects in line with corporate ESG goals and national climate action plans.
Oversee systems for the control of emissions to air, water, and land.
Manage waste streams in compliance with the Waste Management Act and company procedures.
Ensure correct storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous materials.
Provide environmental training and awareness programmes to employees and contractors.
Promote environmental culture and continuous improvement across all departments.
Maintain accurate environmental data and KPIs.
Analyse trends, propose corrective actions, and present reports to management.
Support corporate sustainability reporting (e.g. CDP, GRI, or CSRD disclosures).
Essential:
Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
Minimum 2-5 years' experience in an environmental role, ideally within manufacturing or industrial operations.
Knowledge of Irish and EU environmental legislation, EPA licensing, and ISO 14001 standards.
Strong analytical and reporting skills.
