We are partnering with a leading Australian insurance organisation seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to join a dedicated Digital Discovery squad.
This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping digital initiatives from the ground up, working closely with business stakeholders and technology teams to understand business problems, explore solutions and define the requirements needed to move into delivery.
Unlike a traditional squad-based BA role, this position has a strong emphasis on discovery, problem definition and solution shaping. You'll need to be comfortable working with ambiguity, challenging existing processes and translating business needs into practical, technology-enabled solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead discovery activities, engaging business stakeholders to understand problems, business needs and desired outcomes.
- Facilitate workshops and requirements-gathering sessions across business and technology teams.
- Map customer journeys, current-state processes and future-state business solutions.
- Identify process improvement opportunities, inefficiencies and potential technology enhancements.
- Translate business requirements into functional specifications and technical requirements.
- Work closely with solution architects, developers and technology teams to explore solution options and assess feasibility.
- Define project scope, identify dependencies and break down complex requirements into manageable deliverables.
- Support the development of business cases, investment proposals and expected benefits where required.
- Help shape backlogs and establish a clear execution pathway from discovery into delivery.
About You
We're looking for a commercially minded, technically capable Business Analyst who can bring structure to ambiguity and confidently influence stakeholders across business and technology.
Ideally, you'll bring:
- Proven experience as a Senior Business Analyst delivering digital or technology-enabled projects.
- Strong discovery experience, including problem definition, solution scoping and requirements analysis.
- Experience mapping customer journeys, business processes and future-state operating models.
- The ability to translate business needs into functional requirements and work effectively with technical teams.
- Exposure to digital platforms, systems integration and technology architecture.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and workshop facilitation skills.
- Experience working across the full project lifecycle, with a good understanding of SDLC and different delivery methodologies.
- A demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and business process optimisation.
Desirable experience:
- Previous experience within insurance or financial services.
- Guidewire experience would be advantageous.
- Experience working in multi-vendor environments with onshore and offshore technology teams.
- Previous experience mentoring other Business Analysts or contributing to a BA practice.
