Head of Product - Lending

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced product leader to take ownership of the product strategy and ongoing development of a growing Australian financial services business.

This is a senior leadership position with responsibility for shaping and delivering the roadmap for a sophisticated digital lending platform. Spanning the full lending lifecycle, the role brings together product strategy, technology, customer experience, lending operations and commercial performance.

Working closely with the executive leadership team, you will define the product vision, identify opportunities for innovation and lead the development of technology-enabled lending solutions that deliver better outcomes for customers and distribution partners.

This is an opportunity for someone who understands both the complexities of lending and the opportunities that well-designed digital platforms can create.

The Role

You will take end-to-end ownership of the lending product ecosystem, ensuring the platform continues to evolve in line with customer expectations, business growth and changing market requirements.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Define and own the long-term product strategy, translating business objectives into a clear and commercially focused product roadmap.
• Oversee the evolution of the digital lending platform across origination, application management, credit decisioning, settlement and loan servicing.
• Identify opportunities to enhance digital capabilities, streamline lending processes and improve the experience for customers and distribution partners.
• Lead the prioritisation and execution of strategic product initiatives, balancing business value, technical complexity, regulatory requirements and customer outcomes.
• Work closely with engineering, architecture and design teams to shape solutions, challenge technical approaches and ensure product development aligns with the broader technology strategy.
• Develop business cases, investment proposals and commercial assessments to support strategic product decisions and investment priorities.
• Lead and develop a multidisciplinary product team, creating alignment across product, technology, credit, risk and lending operations.
• Partner with senior leadership and the Board, communicating product strategy, investment recommendations, performance and delivery outcomes.

About You

You are a commercially minded product leader with a strong background in lending or financial services and experience owning complex digital products or platforms.

You understand the intersection of product, technology and financial services, and can move comfortably between strategic discussions with executives and detailed conversations with engineering teams.

Ideally, you will bring:

• 10+ years' experience in product management, with significant experience in a senior product leadership role.
• A strong background in Australian mortgage lending, banking, fintech or a related financial services environment.
• Deep understanding of the mortgage lifecycle, including origination, credit assessment, settlement, servicing and broker distribution.
• Demonstrated experience owning and evolving digital platforms, ideally within a lending or financial services environment.
• A proven track record of developing product strategies and delivering complex, multi-year technology roadmaps.
• Experience working closely with software engineering, architecture and design teams in agile delivery environments.
• Strong commercial acumen, including business case development, financial modelling, investment prioritisation and product performance.
• Experience leading product managers and multidisciplinary teams.
• The ability to influence senior stakeholders and communicate complex product and technology concepts clearly.

Desirable experience:

• Experience within a fintech, neobank or technology-led lending business.
• Exposure to Open Banking, Consumer Data Right (CDR) and data-driven lending solutions.
• Familiarity with modern API-led platforms, cloud-based architecture and contemporary technology environments.
