Morgan McKinley are partnering with an Australian Insurance firm looking for 2 x Compliance Advisors on an initial 3 month contract, with the potential to extend. The company offers hybrid working 3 days in the Sydney CBD and 2 from home.
You will operate as a key member of the Risk and Governance function in this 2nd Line role. This role provides high-level support to the Head of Compliance by implementing the Compliance Management Policy and ensuring the organisation meets its legal, regulatory, and internal obligations.
You will play a lead role in identifying compliance risks, managing incidents, and fostering a robust compliance culture across the enterprise. You will work closely with the team of Compliance Specialists (who we're also recruiting for) to ensure that they meet deadlines and deliver high quality work.
Responsibilities:
- Research and interpret complex laws and regulations to act as an expert information source for the business, anticipating future regulatory requirements.
- Conduct thorough analyses to develop and maintain an obligations register, partnering with business owners to ensure daily compliance.
- Lead compliance risk assessments and develop enterprise-wide monitoring, assurance, and testing plans to evaluate the control environment.
- Investigate reportable breaches and incidents, performing root cause analyses to provide actionable advice on business improvements.
- Build strong relationships with management and external agencies to ensure alignment with the organisation's risk strategy and appetite.
Requirements:
- 8+ years experience working in Compliance or Regulatory roles within Australia.
- Proven experience within compliance and risk frameworks, ideally within the insurance or government sectors.
- Deep understanding of the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA) alongside a bachelor's degree is essential.
- Ability to act as a team lead, providing guidance and technical oversight to Compliance Specialists to ensure collective departmental goals are met.
- Advanced skills in analysing compliance management strategies and reporting findings to senior leadership.
