Job Overview:
Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Financial Controller to join their team in Malta. This role is perfect for someone looking to relocate from England to Malta and take the next step in their career within an international environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing all financial aspects of our business operations, ensuring compliance with both local and international accounting standards, and driving the financial strategy for growth and stability. Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the preparation and accuracy of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with Maltese accounting regulations and international financial reporting standards (IFRS).
- Manage and review the company's budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis processes.
- Provide strategic financial insights to senior management to guide decision-making and business planning.
- Supervise the finance team, providing training, guidance, and performance reviews.
- Prepare tax returns and ensure compliance with local and international tax regulations.
- Coordinate with auditors for annual audits and implement recommendations to improve financial controls and processes.
- Develop and maintain effective internal controls, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial data.
- Lead the implementation of financial systems and processes to enhance reporting efficiency.
- Liaise with banks, suppliers, and clients as needed, maintaining strong financial relationships.
Requirements:
- A recognized accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or equivalent).
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in financial management or accounting roles.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations, particularly IFRS and tax laws.
- Experience in managing a finance team and a strong leadership capability.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across different departments and stakeholders.
- Strong proficiency in financial software and ERP systems (Xero is desirable).
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Fluent in English
- Willingness to relocate to Malta and adapt to local cultural and professional practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in Malta or within a European context.
- Experience in a gaming or technology business is desirable
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
