Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
Our client design and manufacture conveyor and automation systems for regulated sectors like
pharmaceutical, food & beverage and data centres. They are seeking a Senior Mechanical
Design Engineer to join their growing team. In this key role, you'll lead the design and
development of custom conveyor systems and industrial automation solutions.
What You'll Do
* Lead the mechanical design of conveyor systems and automation equipment
using SolidWorks.
* Manage projects from concept through production, ensuring quality, cost, and delivery
targets are met.
* Mentor and support other engineers, setting best practices and maintaining design
standards.
* Liaise with the production floor to ensure designs are practical, efficient, and
manufacturable.
* Create detailed 3D models, manufacturing drawings, and BOMs.
* Collaborate cross-functionally with project managers, controls engineers, and clients.
* Drive continuous improvement in design efficiency, product quality, and process flow.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline).
* 5-10 years' experience in mechanical design, ideally in conveyor systems, material
handling, or industrial automation.
* Strong knowledge of conveyor design principles and best practices.
* Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modelling, assemblies, and drawings).
* Deep understanding of manufacturing processes - welding, machining, and sheet
metal fabrication.
* Strong communication, mentoring, and problem-solving skills.
* Proven ability to work closely with production and cross-functional teams.
Desirable:
* Experience with PDM systems (e.g., SolidWorks PDM).
* Familiarity with DFMA principles.
* Background in automation, drives, or control integration
