The Group Engineering Candidate will be responsible for managing and inspiring his or her team to achieve their performance metrics. Your role will involve strategising, project management and lead the engineering and maintenance team.
In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the design and development of high-quality products, processes, and maintenance, all while fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment. The Group Engineering Manager will be instrumental in shaping the technical direction of our projects, ensuring they align with our business goals and drive operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides the vision for the establishment of a corporate engineering function including value proposition, mission, functionality and strategic long term development.
- Proven track record of translating engineering goals and objectives into successful strategies and tactical plans.
- Active industry networking to keep current manufacturing leading edge practices, process, and equipment.
- Mentor, guide, and manage a team of engineers and maintenance technicians, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

- In conjunction with the senior management team, establish KPI's and projects for the department.
- Oversee and optimize manufacturing and engineering processes to ensure efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure that designs are practical and aligned with production capabilities.
- Collaborate with product designers and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless transitions from concept to handover to the Operations team.
- Drive innovation by leading R&D initiatives that align with the company's strategic goals.
- Identify emerging technologies, explore new materials, and lead experiments to develop new products or enhance existing ones.
- Ensure that R&D efforts are effectively translated into viable production solutions.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a diverse and collaborative environment using agile project management methodologies.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to align engineering efforts with overall business objectives.
- Manage the annual capital investment budget related to the planned engineering projects and control projects spending which are linked to company KPIs.
- Develop and oversee a proactive maintenance strategy to ensure all equipment and facilities are functioning optimally.
- Work closely with the maintenance team to schedule regular inspections, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of machinery and tools.
- Work closely with other departments, including production, quality assurance, and supply chain, to ensure that engineering solutions meet the broader needs of the company.
- Maintain accurate records of engineering activities, including project plans, design specifications, process improvements, and R&D findings.
- Provide regular updates to senior management on project status and outcomes.
- Identify potential risks in engineering processes and projects, and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Provides technical support for environmental and safety regulatory efforts.
Qualifications:
- Relevant Engineering trade or degree.
- 10+ years of experience in progressive engineering management responsibilities, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management position.
- Experience in leading, directing, and managing technical resources for a multi-site manufacturing operation.
- Strong technical background with hands-on technical experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Proven track record of successfully managing complex engineering projects within budget and on-time.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and project management tools.
- Experience with Lean / Six Sigma methodologies tools is advantageous.
