Finance Controller

About the Role

Our client is looking to build out their finance team and looking for a finance controller to join their team. You will lead day-to-day operations, manage the annual audit process, supervise a finance team of 9, and translate financial insights into clear, actionable guidance for senior managers.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial Operations & Reporting: Lead monthly/annual closes, general ledger integrity, and technical accounting.

• Audit & Accounts: Manage year-end accounts production and external audits to strict deadlines.

• Controls & Balance Sheet: Oversee a robust control framework, balance sheet reconciliations, fixed assets, grants, and banking.

• Treasury & Cash Flow: Manage daily liquidity, banking controls, and 18-month rolling cash-flow forecasts.

• Tax & Compliance: Ensure full compliance across VAT, CIS, PAYE, corporation tax, and FRS 102.

• Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and develop a high-performing, customer-focused finance team (4 direct reports).

• Process Improvement: Drive system efficiency, automation, and ongoing finance transformation.

What We Are Looking For

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with current professional membership.

• Proven post-qualification experience in a complex, multi-site organisation (Charity or Housing sector background preferred).

• Extensive experience in managing complex audits, tax compliance, and treasury functions.

• Strong leadership skills with a hands-on approach and advanced Excel/accounting systems proficiency.
