Data Engineer / Python Developer - Contract (12 Months)
Location: Dublin (Hybrid)
We are working with a leading global data and analytics organisation in the insurance risk sector who are looking for a Data Engineer / Python Developer to join their analytics team on a 12-month contract.
This role sits within a highly collaborative data science and analytics team responsible for building and enhancing data-driven products used across the insurance lifecycle, including pricing, underwriting, and fraud detection. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing data pipelines, processing large datasets, and supporting the delivery of new analytics products.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes using Python
Process, clean and transform large and complex datasets from multiple sources
Work closely with data scientists, engineers and product teams to support analytics product development
Ensure data quality, integrity and consistency across analytical workflows
Contribute to writing clean, maintainable and well-tested code
Support internal analytics processes and continuously improve data workflows
Communicate analytical outputs and technical progress to stakeholders where required
Required Skills & Experience
Strong hands-on experience with Python for data processing and automation
Strong SQL skills and experience querying large datasets
Experience building or supporting data pipelines / ETL workflows
Experience working with structured and unstructured data formats
Familiarity with Git-based version control and coding best practices
Strong attention to detail and ability to work across multiple projects in a collaborative environment
Nice to Have
Experience with cloud-based data platforms (Azure preferred)
Exposure to large-scale data processing tools such as Databricks or Spark
Experience working with insurance or financial services data
Familiarity with data visualisation tools such as Power BI
