Job overview
The completion of audit and accounting tasks as delegated by and under the general direction of the appropriate Manager or Audit Senior.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Small Audits:
- Responsible for the audit of a client reporting directly to the assignment manager.
- Planning of assignments and complete the work on time and within budget.
- Preparation of a complete audit file to the required standard.
- Liaise with the Tax Department on tax related matters.
- Prepare statutory financial statements.
- Delegate assignments, supervise and review work completed by Audit Assistants.
Large Audits:
- Complete sections of the audit to be reviewed by Seniors and Managers.
- Delegation and supervision of audit areas to junior members of staff and subsequent initial review of work so performed.
Accounting:
- Drafting of journals requiring complex accounting principles.
General:
- Draft sections of management letters.
- Bring to the attention of the assignment leader matters which require their consideration.
- Provide assistance and on the job training for other part-qualified trainees.
Qualifications / Technical Knowledge / IT Skills
- Actively progress towards a professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CPA) is essential.
- Part completion of exams is required.
- Minimum of 1 year experience within an audit setting.
- Make good progress in professional studies.
- To have an understanding of the effect of taxes on a set of accounts.
- Have an understanding of the technical aspects concerning a set of limited company accounts.
- Ability to use/learn software and systems operated by the firm as appropriate
- Have a good understanding of relevant Microsoft Office software, e.g Outlook, Word, Excel and any other packages relevant to the role.
- You may from time to time be required to attend courses (internal and external) to aid you on the capacity to fulfil your role.
