Our client an industry leader in MRO services and customized solutions are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Buyer/Planner to join the team. This role is pivotal in ensuring a seamless supply chain operation, from procurement and material planning to inventory management and supplier relationship building. You'll manage our procurement strategy to support efficient production and warehouse operations, optimize inventory levels, and drive cost-effective solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement & Inventory Management
- Develop and implement a strategic buying approach to ensure optimal product category management.
- Maintain continuous product supply and inventory balance, minimizing excess stock and reducing obsolescence.
- Review and adjust minimum stock levels based on average sales and forecast trends.
- Oversee re-order points, lead times, and quantities to align with business requirements.
Production Planning & Collaboration
- Partner with operations to create production schedules that meet budgetary and forecasted demands.
- Attend daily production meetings to track feedback on inventory needs, promptly addressing any discrepancies.
- Work closely with relevant departments to resolve issues in Purchase Orders, Delivery dockets, and Invoices.
Supplier & Vendor Management
- Vet and approve new vendors, nurturing relationships to secure competitive pricing.
- Actively manage vendor performance and lead times, addressing any delays that could impact production.
- Participate in cost-saving initiatives and corporate negotiations to ensure favorable terms.
Warehouse Space Utilization & Reporting
- Optimize warehouse space for maximum efficiency and usage.
- Report weekly on material usage, ensuring accurate tracking and replenishment as necessary.
- Engage with Corporate Supply Chain to leverage knowledge, strategies, and shared negotiations.
Skills & Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Proven background in supply chain management, procurement, or material planning.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, for reporting and analysis.
- Strong organizational and administrative capabilities with a keen eye for detail.
