Summary of Function:
This position reports to Manufacturing Engineering Team Leader working within the Operations group and is responsible for supporting the equipment and processes required to produce High reliability electronic circuit card and system assemblies.
Job Description:
The activities carried out by the Manufacturing Engineering Technician include:
- Responsible for sustaining the day-to-day maintenance of the SMT, PTH and Systems assembly equipment and manufacturing process procedures within the electronics manufacturing facility.
- Yield improvement: Perform monitoring of SMT, PTH & System assembly build quality, identify and resolve quality yield issues as required.
- Ensure equipment is maintained in safe working order, preventative maintenance schedules are adhered to and machine uptime is maximised across: SMT, PTH, Prep Equipment, Conformal Coating Equipment, Packaging Equipment, Torque Driver Equipment, Laser Marking Equipment, Aqueous Cleaning Equipment & Inspection Equipment.
- Working with Manufacturing, Product and Design Engineers on New Product Introductions (NPI) in relation to the timely ordering of stencils, jigs, fixtures and creating of equipment programs for SMT, PTH and Inspection equipment.
- Program and debug of computer controlled equipment
- Work with Manufacturing Engineering Team lead and engineers on lean product flows, process improvements, new equipment installation and additive manufacturing.
- Provide training to other technicians and operators as required.
- Ability to travel to support new equipment selection.
- Operate with a Lean mind-set - identifying and minimising waste in all processes and from the greater Value Stream.
Experience:
- Greater than 2 years in a certified Electronics Manufacturing environment, applying Lean principles, contributing to improvement projects.
- Qualified trades personnel with industrial experience will also be considered
Education:
- Level 6 qualification in Electronics, Mechanical / Automation Electrical, Technology, Mechatronics or similar

The successful candidate will be a problem solver, able to work on their own initiative with little supervision, in a manufacturing environment of rapidly changing priorities and keep production moving in the short term while having a long term focus on Lean and Continuous Improvement.
This role requires a high degree of flexibility in terms of working problems to resolution while having the
interpersonal skills to work closely with others. Business demand may require overtime and/or shift at
various times.
