Morgan McKinley is currently looking for an Automation Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of experience to join a leading global medical device company for a long term hourly rate contract.
This role is critical in ensuring the efficient operation, development, and optimization of automated manufacturing processes. The position is based onsite in Cork, requiring full-time presence, with a focus on maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement automation solutions to optimise manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade existing automation systems, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.
- Analyse and improve automated processes to enhance product quality, reduce cycle times, and increase production efficiency
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new automation technologies and processes.
- Lead and manage automation projects from concept through implementation, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors to procure and install automation equipment and systems.
- Ensure all automation processes comply with regulatory requirements, including GMP, ISO standards, and other relevant industry regulations.
- Participate in internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support for automation systems.
- Provide technical support to production teams, troubleshooting and resolving automation-related issues.
- Develop and maintain detailed documentation of automation systems, including user manuals, technical specifications, and validation protocols.
- Prepare and present reports on automation system performance and improvement initiatives to management.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Automation, or related field).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in automation engineering within a GMP environment, preferably in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry.
- Strong knowledge of automation systems, including PLCs, SCADA, HMI, and robotics.
- Experience with process validation, equipment qualification, and control system design.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex automation systems.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to automation and medical device manufacturing.
