Commissions and oversees the installation of systems, plant and/or equipment at a client's site.
Commissioning engineers are engaged in the testing of facilities, equipment and plants to make sure they function correctly and produce the expected results. In doing so they bring the water purification system to a point at which it can be used most effectively.
Commissioning engineers need to possess a thorough understanding of manufacturing and product use, as well as of customer expectation.
Commissioning engineering embraces the installation and commissioning of all types of engineering projects from Data Centres, Healthcare, Industry, Municipal and Pharmaceutical, from small benchtop laboratory systems to large Pure Water Systems
Physical elements of the job - Media filling in vessels, installation of membranes, working at height, working in confined spaces, replacing faulty parts/equipment (pumps, motors etc) driving/travel, working to deadlines and specifications (physical and mental elements).
Specialised PPE such as harnesses and breathing equipment are required for some works.
Lifting of 25kg bags of resin and salt possibly over obstacles and up stairs for number of hours, on occasion.
Also installing/replacing heavy pumps and motors in awkward positions and confined spaces
Prepares test sheets and other documents required for start-up (operational instructions, test reports, etc.)
Performs final checks of the correct execution of civil engineering works and assembly of equipment
Performs the electromechanical and automatic control system tests
Monitors flooding and start-up of plants
Verifies functional and process settings
Identifying problems and shortcomings with existing systems.
Co-ordinating testing and commissioning activities and providing advice on testing and commissioning procedures and documentation.
Producing or assisting in the production of all test and commissioning documentation.
Undertaking testing and commissioning activities in line with the specified site requirements.
Monitoring progress, recording all test results, witnessing final testing and acceptance of equipment and compilation of all documentation for inclusion in the site test dossier to meet specifications / water quality regulations.
Ensuring the safe testing and commissioning of completed installations to achieve the necessary plant performance in accordance with project programme requirements.
Provides training for the operator
Compiles definitive instructions for operations and start-up
Issues intermediate and end of mission reports
Actively participates in meetings with the customer, partners, suppliers and subcontractors
