This role will be responsible for undertaking and leading complex and detailed technical investigations of the electricity power systems
The successful candidate will be responsible for scoping, preparing, undertaking and overseeing complex studies that will rely on high levels of automation for which user-developed coding is needed. He or She will be expected to lead, coach and teach others in the performance of these studies.
Key responsibilities will include performing technical simulations to assess the transmission system's capability to comply with planning standards, identifying and analysing potential solutions in order to recommend an optimal development proposal using company defined performance criteria and the planning standards as reference, organising and arranging the studies that are to be undertaken to include the design of automation routines, the identification and development of necessary data and the co-ordination of the work to be undertaken by others.
They will also be responsible for training, mentoring and developing junior members of the team and will be the technical expert responsible for representing the team through the stages of the project's development, communicating with relevant stakeholders and disseminating analysis and findings.
In this role they will work independently and as part of a cross-functional team and will develop and manage work programmes; co-ordinating activities and providing guidance to staff members or consultants.
The successful candidate will hold a third level qualification or equivalent in electrical engineering with an emphasis on power systems, come with 8-10 years post qualification experience, have previous relevant experience and demonstrated technical proficiency and a good working knowledge and application of key industry standards.
They will also have experience of working with PSSE (or similar) software for load flow, dynamic/transient stability, and fault level analysis.
They will be an expert in all forms of transmission network performance and development analysis, have a proven track record of adopting new modelling techniques and component models for application of new technology and possess the ability to coach and mentor teams in system development analysis and investment decision making.
