Job Description

Excellent Finance Director position with a high growth Educational Technology company based in Dublin. This is a quite unique role where the FD will be responsible for strategic growth.

The Company is a leading online Ed-Tech business, which has developed a unique proposition in several areas and is expanding rapidly through a combination of product and sector expansion. Backed by leading private equity funds, the business has ambitious plans to continue its scaling both organically and via acquisitions and become a significant player in the Irish, UK & European markets. As part of this process, they are seeking to recruit a high calibre and dynamic Finance Director to be a key part of the executive team and lead the finance function within the business. You will work closely with the CEO to define and lead the execution of short-term and long-term goals. As FD, you will manage a growing finance team, responsible for all financial operations of the organisation including performance information and analysis for decision-making purposes, preparation of annual plans and budgets, and rolling forecasts and financial plans, for various internal and external stakeholders. You will play a key role in the strategic and financial development of the business. The ideal candidate will have a background in the Software/Technology/E-commerce SME high growth sectors and have experience with pricing strategies and opening up new potential markets for a business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute agreed on board decisions designed to ensure the achievement of the Company's objectives, targets and budgets.
  • Play a key role in the strategic planning of the business and advise the board on the economic, financial, market, legal or other factors which may assist decision-making.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders of the business (equity and debt providers, key customers and underwriter partners), while mentoring the wider finance team members.
  • As a member of the Senior Management team, you will support commercial development by contributing to the identification of opportunities for profitable growth and expansion.
  • Develop an appropriate system of financial analysis in order to extract and present key performance data on the business.
  • Monitor, analyse and report on KPIs including costs, profitability and other key metrics on a customer, divisional and overall basis.
  • With the support of management, ensure that tax planning strategies are place in order to minimise liabilities and optimise external tax planning advisors' professional inputs.
  • Review, maintain and develop financial policies and procedures framework which support business, commercial and strategic objectives, consistent with overall business policies and procedures.
  • Play a key role in the organic growth strategy of the business including assessment, due diligence, execution and integration of potential acquisitions.
  • Develop, maintain and review strategic financing strategies to support short, mid and long term growth plans.
  • Maintain effective systems for forecasting, controlling and reporting on cash requirements.

Qualifications / Experience

  • You are a professionally qualified accountant - (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
  • You currently hold a FD or senior finance position, with at least 10 years experience.
  • IT skills including knowledge of Xero, Google Suite, Excel and other job specific software.
  • Energetic, highly motivated, with an enquiring mind and passion for excellence and innovation in pursuit of business growth and success.
  • Experience in reporting to Boards, presenting complex matters in a clear and concise manner.
  • Proven experience working to tight reporting deadlines
  • Experience from Software / Technology / E-commerce sectors
  • Pricing strategy experience
  • Experience leading companies into new markets
