Job Description

The primary purpose of this role is to deliver an effective internal audit service to the company and contribute to the bank's Internal Audit Opinion.

The GIA function has three main IA teams across

- Group Risk and Finance,

- Technology, Transformation and Operations

- Retail Banking and HR

Each of which has a separate Head of Function reporting directly to the Group Head of Internal Audit. We are currently recruiting for Managers across these teams.

This will be achieved by leading audit engagements and providing independent assurance over the Bank's key governance, risk management, and control processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering effective end-to-end audit engagements, including the completion of audit reports with high-impact audit findings and interactions with all areas of the Bank including Senior Stakeholders. Responsibilities will also extend to the audit Follow-up Process (Issue Assurance) and the remediation of action plans from previous audit engagements, in addition to other ad-hoc initiatives in support of the Head of Internal Audit's strategic agenda.

Your Team

You will report directly to the Head of Audit or a Senior Audit Manager in one of the respective teams. You will work as part of a team delivering audits in the designated area. There will also be opportunities to work on cross-functional audits. Your team will comprise of colleagues with varying audit and business experience who are hard-working and keen to deliver a first-class service for our internal and external customers.

Your Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a professional approach to auditing and knowledge of governance, risk management, and control, particularly in the context of Technology, Transformation, and/or Project Management; Retail Banking and HR and Risk and Finance areas and across key risk types such as Credit, Liquidity and Funding, Operational, Compliance, and Regulatory risks*;
  • Apply effective project management to the execution of audits that contribute to the wider audit opinion, in a manner that is consistent with Group Internal Audit methodologies and processes as well as meeting quality standards and stakeholder expectations, including performing root cause analysis of control issues;
  • Manage conflicting but equally important priorities effectively, working to tight deadlines to ensure timely delivery of output;
  • Deliver high quality written reports on relevant audit areas such as technology, transformation, change risk management, Retail Banking and HR as well as regulatory reporting and finance/treasury issues and retail banking and HR issues;
  • Provide support to other members of the team in terms of audit delivery and/or coaching;
  • Assist in the delivery of high quality Management Information to relevant Board and Senior Management committees;
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with a wide range of senior stakeholders across the Bank.

Requirements

Essential

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Proven ability to engage and communicate effectively with senior management;
  • Be highly organised and demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively in a multi-task and multi-focus environment;
  • Excellent analytical skills, with proven ability to interpret complex information;
  • A strong understanding of governance, risk management, and control; and with knowledge of industry initiatives and professional best practices gained from either a technology, risk, change management, HR and Retail Banking, risk management, finance, and regulatory risk perspective and/or similar related discipline *;
  • An ability to look at risk in a holistic manner across the business understanding interdependencies and trade-offs;
  • A good understanding of regulatory and legislative requirements, e.g. applicable EBA / CBI Guidelines, CRD and others;
  • An ability to work with ambiguity, to respond to a rapidly changing and innovative environment;
  • The candidate is a self-starter, is highly motivated, and can use their own initiative;
  • Possess a natural attention to detail.

Desired

  • Ability to manage difficult conversations and gain buy-in from senior stakeholders, both internal and external;
  • 5+ years' experience in one or more of the following areas: Audit, Technology, Cloud, Cybersecurity, Digital Development, Change, Project Management, HR, Retail Banking, Risk Management, Compliance, Finance or a related role;
  • Knowledge of data (e.g. SQL, SAS, data analytics) is desirable;
  • Experience in business control testing or quality assurance is also desirable;
