UK Benefits Manager

Permanent - Excellent salary package

This role is home-based, from any in UK location. Occasional travel will be necessary, potentially outside the UK

Main Purpose of Role:

The purpose of this role is to oversee all aspects of UK benefit arrangements to drive engagement, aid recruitment and retention, ensure efficiency and deliver an excellent user experience for all employees in the UK.

Reporting directly to the Head of Reward, the UK Benefits Manager will work in close liaison with a number of key leaders and stakeholders in each area of the UK business as well as external providers and advisors, to develop and oversee the company's benefits in support of our employer brand and offering.

Responsibilities:

Working with the Head of Reward, external advisors and providers, and UK leadership and finance teams, the UK Benefits Manager will:

  • plan, cost and devise affordable benefit strategies to retain and attract the best talent, ensuring the company is perceived as an employer of choice
  • be a trusted advisor for HR and business leaders and managers in relation to company's benefits offering
  • ensure the efficient, cost-effective and compliant operation of all benefits, working closely with those involved in benefits operations to provide review, guidance and challenge to optimise and streamline wherever possible
  • develop strategies to ensure high levels of engagement from employees, leveraging what the benefit provider has to offer.
  • As part of the Reward team, the UK Benefits Manager will also provide continuous input into the ongoing development of UK Reward Strategy and associated principles, practices and policies, ensuring that it supports the wider HR and business strategy

Duties:

  • Manage the budget for external service providers
  • Own the strategy for enrolment and re-enrolment and ensure understanding in the business
  • Support the Head of Reward and HR Directors on ad hoc projects, leading projects as requested
  • Build and draft communication materials that mean employees have access to clear and easy-to-find information on their benefits when they need it
  • Provide strong vendor management in relation to suppliers and advisors to ensure standards of service are continuously maintained
  • Resolve policy and operational issues arising from the day-to-day management of benefits
  • Lead on UK Benefits projects ensuring that they are delivered in line with expectations, on time and within the agreed budget, including the implementation of any international benefits platform
  • Benchmark existing benefits against relevant competitors
  • Ensure online benefit tools and reward platforms are maximised and optimised and deliver first-class user experience
  • Work with Wellbeing strategy leads to drive initiatives and embed a positive wellbeing culture.
  • Keep up to date with latest benefits changes and analyse how they impact areas of responsibility or other areas within the team
  • Benchmark existing provisions against relevant competitors
  • Provide cost analysis and financial modelling to support recommendations for change
  • Respond to individual and corporate queries around benefits operation and choices

Person Specification/Competencies:

The role requires a knowledge of core UK benefits. Minimum of 5 years' experience in HR, reward or benefits teams.

Must:

  • have the courage and resilience to work in a complex and exceedingly fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders
  • have experience of what 'good' looks like for all stakeholders in terms of benefit provision and broader reward or HR and the self-confidence, authority and communication skills to convey that to others
  • be flexible and adaptable and be comfortable with a changing landscape where different approaches might be needed
  • be keen to use digital tools to drive efficiency, value and insight for processes and tasks involved in the delivery of benefits
  • understand the relationship between good reward and HR, and commercial success
  • be numerate and able to work with and analyse large amounts of people data, ensuring accuracy and spotting patterns/trends
  • be able to work independently to come up with recommendations and proposed solutions even where there is ambiguity
