Job Overview
You will be deployed to our client who is a leading government technology agency driving digital transformation and innovation in the healthcare sector. They are seeking a highly skilled and experienced System Engineer to join their dynamic IT team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of our critical server infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and security. This role requires a strong focus on Windows Server environments, adherence to ITIL best practices, and a solid understanding of cloud computing concepts and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Implement, configure, and maintain Windows Server operating systems (2012, 2016, 2019, 2022).
- Develop, deploy, and manage Group Policy Objects (GPO) to enforce security settings, configurations, and compliance across the enterprise.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot complex issues, and implement proactive measures to ensure system stability and availability.
- Maintain and document system configurations, operational procedures, and service records in alignment with ITIL processes (e.g., Incident, Problem, Change Management).
- Provide technical leadership and expertise in project execution and operational support.
- Ensure all systems and processes meet top security standards and comply with regulations.
- Collaborate with security teams to implement and maintain security standards baseline.
- Administer and support basic services within commercial cloud environments, such as Azure or AWS.
- Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and continuous improvement of the server infrastructure.
Requirements
- Diploma, Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, ITIL Foundation) are highly desirable.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in system engineering, focused on Microsoft Windows Server environments.
- Expert-level experience and sound knowledge of Windows Server 2012, 2016, 2019, and 2022 operating systems.
- Highly experienced in Group Policy Object (GPO) management, deployment, and auditing.
- Demonstrated experience working within a framework of ITIL best practices (certification is a plus).
- Strong understanding of system compliance requirements and experience implementing controls and procedures to meet them.
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of commercial cloud platforms, such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS), including foundational services (e.g., compute, storage, networking).
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell) for automation and configuration management.
- Strong Windows/network troubleshooting skills related to server connectivity and service access (TCP/IP, firewall rules, routing).
- Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
