Our client, a global joint venture between Japanese and international leaders in digital infrastructure and real estate, is seeking a Legal Manager to oversee all legal matters in Japan. This role offers exposure to senior leadership, a broad scope of responsibilities across contracts, governance, and investment matters, and the opportunity to contribute to the success of a dynamic international organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements.
- Provide legal guidance to business units, including finance, HR, marketing, and risk management.
- Support governance through joint venture board operations and compliance initiatives.
- Manage legal aspects of property, lease, and service agreements.
- Collaborate with portfolio management and property operations teams on daily and strategic matters.
- Partner with acquisitions and investments teams on transactions.
- Oversee outside counsel relationships and contribute to policy and process improvements.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- 5-10+ years of corporate legal experience, including in-house exposure
- Proven ability in contract drafting, negotiation, and risk management.
- Strong knowledge of transactions and document management.
Soft Skills:
Language Requirements
- Japanese: Fluent.
- English: Fluent.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Background in tax or compliance matters.
- Familiarity with joint venture structures and governance.
- Law degree or bar qualification strongly preferred.
