Key Responsibilities
- Advise lenders and sponsors on leveraged finance, LBOs, and syndicated loan transactions.
- Draft and negotiate loan agreements, security documents, and other finance contracts.
- Manage day-to-day deal execution, ensuring effective communication with clients and counterparties.
- Ensure regulatory compliance and mitigate legal risks throughout transactions.
- Collaborate with partners and global finance teams on cross-border matters.
- Contribute to practice development and support the expansion of the Tokyo Debt Finance group.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- Japan-qualified lawyer with 3-6 years of post-qualification experience.
- Background in leveraged finance, syndicated finance, or secured/unsecured lending.
- Experience at a Japanese or international law firm.
- Proven ability to manage multiple finance transactions under tight timelines.
Soft Skills:
- Strong communication skills in Japanese and English for transaction execution.
- Excellent time management and ability to work under pressure.
- High commercial awareness and a client-focused mindset.
- Collaborative team player with sound judgment and professionalism.
Language Requirements:
- Japanese: Native
- English: Fluent
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in real estate finance, project finance, or data-center financing.
