As Head of HR Japan, you will lead the local HR function, partner closely with senior leadership, and drive initiatives across employee engagement, talent development, and organisational effectiveness. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the local HR team, ensuring high-quality delivery, strong engagement, and operational excellence
- Partner with senior leadership on people strategy, workforce planning, and organisational design aligned to business goals
- Drive core HR initiatives including employee engagement, talent management, and succession planning across Japan
- Provide expert guidance on employee relations, performance management, and HR governance within a compliance-focused environment
- Oversee compensation, benefits, and annual HR cycles in alignment with global frameworks and policies
- Act as the Japan HR lead, collaborating with regional and global stakeholders to ensure consistency and best practices
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- Proven experience as a senior HR leader or HRBP within complex, matrix organisations
- Strong people management capability with hands-on leadership across core HR functions
- Solid understanding of Japan labour laws, employee relations, and local HR best practices
Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leadership
- Strong engagement mindset with the ability to build trust and drive cultural alignment
- Strategic thinking combined with practical execution, delivering results in a fast-paced environment
Language Requirements:
- Japanese: Native
- English: Fluent
