About the Role
We are working with a global organisation seeking a Datacenter Operations Engineer (Level 1) to support the day-to-day running of critical infrastructure in their Dublin datacenter.
This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone with a strong technical mindset who is eager to develop hands-on experience in a fast-paced, enterprise environment. You will work alongside experienced engineers and gain exposure to large-scale infrastructure operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Hardware Support: Assist with installation, maintenance, and replacement of servers, devices, and infrastructure components
- Deployment: Support hardware rollouts including unboxing, racking, cabling, and configuration
- Datacenter Maintenance: Perform routine checks and proactively identify risks related to power, cooling, and cabling
- Inventory Management: Track and manage assets, including tagging and onboarding new equipment
- Monitoring: Monitor system performance (temperature, power, connectivity) and escalate issues appropriately
- Troubleshooting: Assist in diagnosing and resolving hardware and basic system issues in collaboration with global teams
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work completed using ticketing and documentation tools
- Security & Compliance: Adhere to strict datacenter access, security, and operational protocols
Required Skills & Experience
Essential:
- 1-3 years' experience in IT support or a relevant technical qualification
- Basic knowledge of Linux and/or macOS, with some command-line familiarity
- Understanding of fundamental networking concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs, switching)
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, hands-on approach
- Good communication skills and ability to work within a team environment
- High level of reliability and attention to detail (role is fully onsite)
Desirable (Not Essential)
- Exposure to mobile device management (Android/iOS)
- Familiarity with ticketing/documentation tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence)
- Basic scripting knowledge (e.g., Bash, Ansible)
