Morgan McKinley is delighted to partner with a key client in the transport and logistics sector to recruit an experienced Fleet Manager. This is a hands-on, operationally focused role with full responsibility for the day-to-day management, compliance, and cost control of a commercial vehicle fleet operating to RSA standards.
Reporting into senior operations leadership, the Fleet Manager will take ownership of fleet maintenance, regulatory compliance, driver liaison, and supplier management. The role is highly transport-focused and requires daily engagement with drivers, depots, and external service providers to ensure maximum fleet availability and safety.
Ensure all fleet vehicles are properly maintained and roadworthy at all times
Arrange and coordinate routine maintenance and repairs, liaising daily with garages and service providers
Ensure all drivers have the correct, valid, and up-to-date documentation onboard their vehicles
Maintain accurate fleet records, compliance documentation, and management reports
Ensure all vehicles have valid CVRT, ADR, pressure testing, and Safe Load Pass certification in line with RSA standards
Build and maintain strong working relationships with drivers, depots, garages, and body builders
Monitor and control transportation and fleet-related costs, identifying efficiencies where possible
Ensure all vehicle damage is reported promptly and that repairs are completed within agreed timelines
Act as the main point of contact for day-to-day transport queries from drivers and depots
Issue order numbers and review, approve, and sign off on all invoices relating to fleet maintenance and repairs
Liaise with garages and body builders on new vehicle builds, specifications, and commissioning
Serve as the primary escalation point for any transport or fleet-related issues across the business
Proven experience in a Fleet Manager, Transport Manager, or Fleet Administrator role within a commercial transport environment
Strong working knowledge of RSA compliance, CVRT, ADR, and vehicle testing requirements
Experience managing external suppliers, garages, and service partners
Strong organisational and record-keeping skills with a high level of attention to detail
Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with drivers and depot teams
Cost-conscious mindset with experience monitoring and controlling fleet expenditure
Proactive, solutions-focused approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
