SHORT ROLE DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE OF ROLE:
The Electrical Design Engineer role will be responsible for the efficient electrical design of our Isolator equipment to client requirements. The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for the full electrical design and procurement of electrical components for projectsincluding all documents and code in compliance to GAMP5 processes, NRTL (US) and CE (EU) Requirements. This role will take the mechanical design P&ID as the basis for the design, along with company standards and client specific requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design the electrical wiring layout and panels for process instrumentation and control devices using documents such as P&ID, Instrument Schedule and customer specifications
- Design of PLC control Loops, Motor controls and variable frequency drive circuits
- Design pneumatic circuits for process control and instrumentation
- Create and design the required design document such as Electrical Schematics, Electrical drawings and Instrument Schedule (IS) and provide input into other documents as required
- Construct wiring schematics Generate assembly designs for power distribution panels, control panels and remote I/O panels. Design is achieved using documents such as schematics, customer specs, and applicable codes and standards
- Support existing equipment with after-sales support
- Typical tasks will include the management of specifications, design, purchasing of equipment, interpreting electrical schematics, overseeing the Build of projects within budget, allocated time, and corporate guidelines, commissioning, and handover.
- Interfacing with Engineers and other design disciplines to provide an integrated system design
- Work with sales team to help deliver competitive solutions to the industry as directed by the Manager
- Responsible to help maintain a safe, healthy, ethically and environmentally responsible workplace and business
- Responsible for Automation Variation Change Requests (VCR) with clients where scope deviates from "as sold" specification.
- Management of procurement of long lead time items for projects with the procurement team to meet project timelines.
- Conduct electrical design review meeting with larger engineering team
- Interface with project management and project engineers during the design, execution and start-up phase of projects
JOB DESCRIPTION
SKILLS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- 2-3 years of previous Electrical Design Engineering experience with industrial control systems,process control loops, motor controls and instrument connections
- Competent working with technical and electrical drawings and specifications, and have previously demonstrated the ability to build strong working relationships both within their team and working across multi-disciplinary teams
- Strong project management skills are a distinct advantage for this position with proven problem[1]solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills through English
- Multitask ability to work with several projects at a time
- Experience of Good Documentation Practices (GDP) as used within the Life Sciences industry
EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED:
- Degree or equivalent certification in Electrical Engineering
- Experience in AutoCAD and See Electrical CAD systems
- PLC/DCS hardware experience, preferably Weidmuller, Siemens and Allan Bradley Knowledge of Atex Guidelines an advantage
- Knowledge of communications protocols and networking a distinct advantage such as Profinet, Ethernet IP, ModBus, Profibus
- Knowledge of regional regulatory standards such as CE and NRTL Panels standards, and ATEX (EU) and HazLoc (US) certification
